'Taiwan is not Ukraine', says China as island raises alert level

On February 24, as Russia launched a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine,  Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen emphasised that the situation in Ukraine is fundamentally different from that in Taiwan. Taiwan has its own unique geostrategic importance and is prepared to respond to any contingency, she stressed.

Taiwan is "not Ukraine" and has always been an inalienable part of China, China's foreign ministry said on Wednesday in response to the above.
