Researchers have discovered a new shape, called a "vampire einstein," that can create a pattern without repeating and without its mirror image. The unique name is because the shape isn’t accompanied by its reflection, hence vampire. This tile, part of a family of vampire einsteins known as "spectres," is unique in its ability to tile an infinite plane without gaps or overlaps.
