Back from extinction: Resurrecting the Tasmanian tiger

Andrew Pask, 48-year-old professor in the bioscience department of Melbourne University’s historic quadrangle is promising to lead a team of scientists to do what humans have never done – bring an extinct creature back to life. Among the collection of Star Wars paraphernalia, and miniature skulls and dinosaur replicas arranged on the base of his desktop computer, is the subject of his ambitious project, unmistakably a thylacine, or, as it is more commonly known, a Tasmanian tiger.
