A British-Indian doctor battled for five hours to save a fellow passenger, who almost died twice during a 10-hour Air India flight. Dr Vishwaraj Vemala, a consultant hepatologist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, was flying from the UK to Bengaluru with his mother when a 43-year-old man suffered a cardiac arrest. Dr Vemala attempted to resuscitate the passenger, who at the time did not have a pulse and was not breathing.
