A new study has found that deforestation in the Amazon has destroyed eight per cent of the world’s largest rainforest, between 2000 and 2018. The Amazon rainforest is believed to play a vital role in curbing climate change, but in recent years, destruction of this green belt has increased.

The Amazon is often referred to as the ‘lungs of the planet’ as it represents over half of the earth’s remaining rainforests.
