The district administration has banned installation of Ganesha idols in public places in Dharwad district in view of the fears of a possible third wave. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of officials chaired by deputy commissioner Nitesh Patil in Dharwad on Monday.
Patil said that the festival will be celebrated in September but as a safety measure, it has been decided to ban idol installation in public places. Last year too, a similar decision was taken to contain the spread of the infection.
