India has updated two of its five 2015 commitments to the world on what it will do to combat climate change. The first- to reduce the emissions intensity of its GDP by 45%, the second- to get about 50% of its electricity from non-fossil fuel sources, and third- is to create a carbon sink of 2.5-3 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide- all by 2030.

India will now submit its updated Nationally Determined Contribution to the UNFCCC, before the next global climate summit. But some promises have been dropped.
