The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) observes its raising day on 1 February every year. This year, ICG is celebrating its 46th Raising Day.

The motto of the Indian Coast Guard is Vayam Rakshamah, which is Sanskrit for 'We Protect'. The main role of the ICG is to ensure the safety and protection of artificial islands, protection, and assistance to fishermen and mariners at sea.
