Karnataka CM Bommai meets FM, urges extension of GST compensation for 3 more years

Amid the decline in state revenue and GST collection in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Karnataka CM Basavaraj S Bommai on Thursday demanded the Center to extend the period of GST compensation to states for three more years beyond 2022.

After the meeting, he told reporters, “The arrears which were to be paid from July 2022, are being carried forward through installments from this year onwards. Along with this, I discussed extending the GST compensation to the states beyond 2022."
