Surat: Despite the massive spike in Covid-19 cases, the city police have decided not to penalize people who don't wear masks and instead distribute masks on public roads.
“Our teams will focus on ensuring that people wear masks but we will not collect fines,” said Ajay Tomar, the city police commissioner. Police named the campaign ‘Dand Nahi Par Mask Lagao.’ “Mask is the most important defense against this infection.
“We don’t want the public-police relationship to be defined by fine. We will give masks and pressure people to wear them. Still, if someone does not adhere, we will take action,” he said.
