MegaFon increased the speed of mobile internet in 24 regions of Russia by a third through refarming, that is, the transfer of frequencies used in 2G and 3G networks to the modern LTE standard. Refarming is an effective technical solution for increasing network capacity under heavy loads. MegaFon said that these changes not only increased the speed of mobile Internet by 30% but also improved the coverage and penetration of the network inside buildings in both small towns and large cities.
