According to a study published by Cambridge University, the annual carbon footprint required to mine Bitcoin is higher than the annual consumption of countries like Ukraine and Argentina. Mining Bitcoin requires massive electrical infrastructure and complicated math algorithms in order to verify transactions. Miners often use a setup that involves multiple GPUs to process complicated algorithms.
