Society's efforts needed to discourage criminals from contesting elections: CEC Sushil Chandra

Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra on Tuesday highlighted the need for efforts by society as a whole so that people with criminal antecedents are discouraged from participating in elections.

"It's equally essential to curb the influence of money and muscle power in elections. Efforts should be made by society as a whole that people with criminal antecedents are discouraged from participating in elections," CEC Chandra said in his address on the eve of 12th National Voters Day.
