Students lose interest in science, maths due to weak foundation

A weakness in mastering the basic concepts of science and mathematics among primary school pupils is believed to be one of the main factors behind the decline in the number of students opting for the science stream, say academicians. Senior lecturer Dr Anuar Ahmad said the teaching method was uninteresting and focused more on the goal of getting high marks, while the key objective of science and mathematics is to instil the spirit of experimenting.
