Study shows vegetarians have healthier disease markers than meat-eaters

A new study done on 1,66,000 adults has shown that vegetarians have a healthier biomarker profile in comparison to meat-eaters. It also showed that smoking and consumption of alcohol does not affect the biomarkers.

Biomarkers can have bad and good health effects, promoting or preventing cancer, cardiovascular and age-related diseases, and other chronic conditions, and have been widely used to assess the effect of diets on health.
