The daylight killing of an elderly opposition supporter recently and the kidnap and torture of another on Sunday night have posed a huge challenge to the ruling BJP in Tripura, that of tackling violence and terror tactics at the ground level just two months ahead of the crucial assembly election. Suspected BJP cadres beat up CPM branch secretary of Uttarmura in Charilam, during the marriage ceremony of his friend in a nearby village.
