Type-C vs Thunderbolt ports: How they differ, what they offer, and more

Thunderbolt is a technology developed by Intel in partnership with Apple that allows for high-speed data transfer, video and audio streaming, and power delivery through a single cable. The ‘standard’ of ports USB-C (short for “Universal Serial Bus Type-C”) is a newer standard for USB connectors and cables that was first introduced in 2014. Thunderbolt cables can be used to connect to USB-C devices, but a Thunderbolt device cannot connect to a USB-C port.
