US visa processing expected to reach pre-pandemic levels

The US Department of State expects to reach pre-pandemic visa processing levels by 2023. As of November 2022, the median worldwide wait time for a tourist visa (B1/B2) interview appointment is about two months. Applicants with urgent travel needs can apply for an emergency appointment, usually within days. India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar raised the issue of visa backlog with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
