What is the Smart Cities Mission's purpose?

The Smart Cities Mission was announced by the Indian government in 2015. The goal is to promote sustainable and inclusive cities that provide fundamental infrastructure and improved standards of living in 100 cities through the usage of "Smart" solutions.
