AstraZeneca said on Tuesday that it had halted late-stage clinical trials of its coronavirus vaccine after a study participant developed an adverse reaction. It is reported that one UK participant had 'transverse myelitis'.

Transverse myelitis is an inflammation of the spinal cord resulting from damage to nerve cells in a certain area. The initial symptoms include pain in the lower back or sharp, shooting sensations that radiate down the arms, legs, or around the torso.
