The arrival of monsoon over the Kerala coast will likely be delayed by a few days, the India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday. Instead of its normal date of June 1, the monsoon is expected to arrive by June 4. The IMD forecast is likely to fuel apprehensions of a bad monsoon, but the two events are not connected. The timing of the onset of monsoon over Kerala has no bearing on the quantity of rainfall during the season.
