A new wolf has been created for the first time by cloning arctic wolves. The world’s first cloned wild Arctic wolf has made its video debut, 100 days after being born in a Beijing lab.

The dog was chosen as a surrogate for arctic wolves because dogs share genetic ancestry with ancient wolves and the experiment was more likely to succeed through cloning techniques.
