World Metrology Day 2023: History, significance, theme and more

To commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Metre Convention in 1875, Metrology Day is celebrated on 20 May each year. Metrology can be defined as the science of measurement and its application. On 20 May 1875, the Metre Convention was officially adopted. The Metre Convention founded the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and a unified system of measurement. This year's theme is 'Advancing Measurement Technologies for Sustainable Development'.
