World Oceans Day 2020: History, significance & this year's theme

In 2008, the United Nations General Assembly decided that, as of 2009, 8 June would be designated by the United Nations as “World Oceans Day”. It celebrates the role of the oceans in everyday life and inspires action to protect the ocean and sustainably use marine resources. This day holds great significance as we discuss various methods to save oceans for our future generations. This year's theme for World Ocean Day is 'Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean'.
